Attendance; Michelle Bettencourt, Micheline Sonia, Becky Hegarty, Julie Hatt, Jared Meader, Julie Meader, Mary Ellen Guyther, Deb DeBettencourt, Kris OíBrien, Varsity Team Captains, Jacquelyn Hegarty, and Kylie Hatt.
Meeting opened at 6:35 p.m.
Club Vice President, Julie Hatt opened the meeting by thanking the Captains for attending the meeting. It was suggested at the last meeting it would be helpful for team captains to attend some, but not all of the meetings to help with communication and to allow the captains to express any needs or fundraising ideas. Next season, the invitation for all Captains Varsity and Junior Varsity will be asked to attend club meetings as needed.
Treasures Report -
Micheline shared a breakdown of the winter auction.
This leaves us with a healthy balance to cover the end of the season banquet, team gifts, and our $2,000.00 scholarship. Open discussions were made to help improve the winter auction. It was agreed that the Wharf
Pub was a great venue, during the live auction was taking place a speaker in the back of the room could be helpful for the audience to better hear. Other ideas were to start the live auction a little later in the evening allowing parents to mingle and enjoy the event.
Micheline shared the breakdown of the calendar sales.
The participation from both teams were outstanding. Every player sold calendars towards their end of the season gift and overnight trip. Although the Junior Varsity overnight trip was cancelled twice due to weather, Coach Andrew asked the club to offer a team pizza party at the Bowling Barn. All agreed and Coach Andrew is looking into the cost.
Video Sponsorships - Julie Hatt confirmed the cost for video taping all Varsity home games have been covered by ad sponsorships.
Nan Rheault Tournament Breakfast - Becky presented to the club that this years Varsity Tournament costs were completely covered by the parents of the Varsity team. Each family was asked to bring in a breakfast item to share. Parents helped prepare the special breakfast for the visiting teams. Tournament t-shirt sales helped cover the cost of the champion plaque, paper products, and the cost of the tournament shirts. Special thank you to Jared Meader for organizing the dads to help prepare breakfast which include but not limited to: Anthony Ben-David, Rob Davey, and Dave Caron.
Banquet -
Becky and Micheline presented to the club an idea to host this years banquet at the Bowling Bistro Barn in OB. The cost per player plus coaches would be $20.00 per person. We have around 57 players plus coaches combined. The parents would have to be charged $20.00 each for their dinner. Dinner will be prepared buffet style. Stake tips, rice, garden salad, caesar salad, ziti, and dinner rolls is the proposed menu. The club will be purchasing a large sheet cake through Stop and Shop. Historically, the banquet has been hosted at the High School and the club paid for a caterer to prepare a meal for the coaches and teams. Parents were charged a plate fee of $15.00. This year the plate fee would increase to 5.00.
Discussions were made that the costs would basically be around the same. The club liked the idea that the atmosphere would be a little more appealing. The proposed date will be Sunday, March 13th 6-8p.m.
Captains representing the teams Jacquelyn Hegarty and Kylie Hatt expressed that the Varsity team along with the Junior Varsity team would like Vineyard Girls Hockey sweatshirts and possibly sweatpants to match. They have agreed to ask the others to help create a design. They are going to attend the Junior Varsityís team practice on Sunday along with Mary Ellen Guyther and Deb DeBettencourt to ask the team their sizes and what color they would prefer.
Discussions around the proposed team gifts were made and voted to order 35 sweatshirts for the Junior Varsity Team and 17 for the Varsity Team.
Open Discussions -
Parents expressed that they would like to see a proposed budget for next season. Micheline will be working on creating a proposed expense report for the last meeting where we will be voting on the expenses.
Jacquelyn Hegarty asked if the booster club would support a summer league. The club would need to purchase jerseys and ice time. We could set the cost per player to help defray the expenses. Other ideas were to offer skating clinics to help the teams in their skills. Julie Hatt offered to look into the rink hosting Laura Stramm Skating Clinic to come this summer. Jared Meader is going to ask some local coaches if they would be willing to help coach a summer league. The club agreed to look into these ideas. A motion was made to include a line item in the budget to help support players to improve their skills. The amount of this line item has not been voted on.
New Business -
Next meeting the club will be holding their annual Board of Directors Elections.
We are looking for a club secretary. If you are interested, please attend the meeting on March 24 at 6:30p.m.
Meeting adjourned: 8:30p.m.

a few outstanding expenses to total: $1,800.00. The club is seriously in financial need.
Skate with Santa -
A big Thank You to Dave Caron for dressing as Santa this year. Julie re-capped the event for us
by stating while many families came out to support our program the event needs more activities
and more interaction from the players. It was suggested that maybe girls need to become more
involved in planning the fundraiser. We need to make it more fun for the small children who look
up to them. Some suggestions included obstacle course, limbo games. These ideas were noted
and agreed. One suggestion was to ask the team captains to attend the booster club meeting next
year when planning the Skate with Santa event. The hope is that maybe by getting the captains
more involved may allow for a deeper appreciation and understanding of where the money is
spent and where it goes.

Dear Hockey Families,
Our annual banquet will be hosted this year at the MVRHS Cafeteria. Back by popular demand, Bobby Jackson from the Plane View Restaurant will be preparing for us a very special meal. MVRHS Girl’s Ice Hockey
(2/2014)
Thank you to all the parents, skaters, coaches and friends of Martha’s Vineyard Girl’s Ice Hockey for the tremendous support this past season. Our fundraising efforts with the raffle and auction have raised over $20,000.00 for our club. This is a huge accomplishment and an effort we should all be proud of!
This is a very exciting time for our Varsity skaters as they enter the tournament on Wednesday, but also monumental for the team to capture the SMEGHL Southeast Division Champion title! Congratulations to all the players and coaches!
Let’s continue our support and cheer on the team!! The Vineyard girls are scheduled to play Algonquin/Hudson in the first tournament game at 4:30pm on home ice. Please spread the word and come out to cheer them on!
Thank you again and Go Vineyard!!

Dear Vineyard Girl’s Ice Hockey Parents,
We need your support! Our fundraising efforts have begun and we need your help to succeed. All the Varsity and Junior Varsity players have received envelopes this week containing two tickets for our Winter Auction and two books of raffle tickets.
The raffle this year is for two tickets with great seats to a Bruins game and overnight accommodations in Boston. Junior Varsity players please sign up to sell your raffle tickets at a Varsity home game. We will have a table and poster ready at each game.
The tickets for our Winter Auction are $25 per person and we are asking each player to sell their two tickets and return the money by January 27, 2014. The auction is Saturday February 1, 2014 and we are in need of auction items. Anything you can donate, please email the club as soon as possible. This is our biggest fundraiser and our major source of revenue to fund the club expenses. The booster club supports the activities during the season, including the overnight trips to Boston for both Varsity and Junior Varsity. Our numbers for girls hockey this year are close to 50 players, which is the largest group in the history of our club. This is awesome and we want the program to continue to grow. Seeing the girls smiling on the ice is a testament to our great coaches and the love of the sport.
We cannot do this alone, and need the support of all the parents. Please join us in making this a successful season both on the ice and off ice in raising money for the club!
Thank you, in advance for all your assistance and support!
Best,
Jeanne Ogden
